SENDING WORK TO STRIX
Submissions for Strix #8 are open now.
You can send work to be considered for our forthcoming issue any day in September (even at 23:59, which does usually happen…).
It would be really helpful to us if you could take a second to read the following guidelines, and make sure you follow them when you send us your work.
Maximum of 1,500 words of fiction (three pieces of flash fiction of 500 words each, etc.)
Maximum of 3 poems, no more than 40 lines each
No simultaneous submissions. Please, please, please!
Work should not have appeared in print or online before (including personal blogs)
Attach work as individual files (.doc, .pdf, .txt) one file per piece
Save each file as the title of the piece (sailingtobyzantium.doc for example)
Don't put your name on the work itself, or in the name of the file
If you use a writer’s name, please say so clearly in your email
All this helps us to minimise the amount of time we spend on admin!
For our part, we acknowledge safe receipt of your work just after the deadline closes; we make our final decisions within two weeks (so 14 October for the coming issue); and we contact everyone who sent work to let them know the outcome. Even if you weren't successful, you'll hear from us, as quickly as possible, and your work won’t be tied up until the cows come home.
All contributors receive a free copy of the magazine. We can't pay people for their work, but we wish we could.
So please send us something, and help us make Strix #8 an inky, papery reality.
