Compiled during the Windrush scandal, concerns about social care and the announcement of a Stephen Lawrence memorial day, this small anthology with a big heart from Leeds with one of the biggest Windrush generation generation communities in its diverse population features poetry from many of these different immigrant communities ranging from social protest to celebration, song through textual play to traditional forms by poets from the internationally-recognised to those nurtured in charity workshops who have experienced homelessness, mental ill-health and many kinds of abuse.

The poets include Khadija Ibrahiim, Vahni Capildeo, Seni Seneviratne, Niall Campbell, Adam Lowe and Ian Duhig who also led some workshops, edited the anthology and wrote the introduction. All contributors were unpaid so any profits can be donated to the charities represented in these pages. All costs have been covered by funding from the Forward Arts Foundation, in relation to National Poetry Day's theme of change and in accordance with its mission to widen engagement with poetry.
